The Wren is In

Women used to wear dressy hats. One time a classmate of my Mother, came to visit.
She drove up into the yard and left the windows open on her car. She came in and visited with Mom for several hours. The new hat she had on was beautiful and there was much discussion about it. Mom wore a hat only when she worked in the fields and that would be a straw hat. When the lady was leaving, she decided to put the hat back into the hat box it had came in, so it would not blow off as she drove. Laughter and giggles came from the car, as she and Mom said goodbye. A wren had built a complete nest in her much prized hat box.
Mom was a hard working lady. Ponds face cream, a little talcum powder and Tangee lipstick were the only kind of cosmetics I ever saw her use. She had beautiful black hair and brushed it every daily and at night, you could see the sparks fly when she bushed it. Oh, yes she loved Vicks. I could not stand the stuff. It would burn my skin on contact. If I even sneezed, out would come the Vicks. Good reason to stay healthy.
