Did You Ever?

As a child growing up in Oklahoma.
Watch an ant lion catch an ant.
Follow a trail of ants to their nest.
See tumble bugs laboring to roll their prize to a hiding place.
Watch an orb spider build her web, catch a grasshopper and wind him up quickly, or see her molt or make an egg sack.
Catch a horny toad and watch him squirt blood.
Chase a mountain boomer off a rock.
Watch a terrapin scramble to catch a grasshopper.
See a snake swallow a frog.
Get told frogs will give you warts
Watch a crawdad make a mud stack.
Catch a lightening bug and put it in a jar.
See a flying squirrel sail thru the air.
Watch a bird build a nest, hatch the eggs and feed the young.
Dig worms for fish bait, and hate to use them.
Hear a screech owl scream.
Watch a butterfly come out of the cocoon.
Hear the jar flies or cicadas so loud you could hardly sleep.
Just do things for the pure joy of being alive.
