Roll Away Bed

The first bed I remember was a wooden box with a pillow in it. When I out grew that, the ingenuity of my parents still astounds me, they came up with another bed. Somehow they found an old mohair covered car seat and an old pair of adjustable roller skates.
Dad took the skates apart, making 4 sets of double wheels. He fastened two by fours together to make a rectangle. Then he nailed the rollers on all four corners and then fastened this to the bottom of the car seat. He had to put a couple of shims on the back side of the seat to make it level. In the daytime this was rolled under their bed.
At night Mom would roll it out, put a quilt on it and double the quilt back over me. She could reach me from her bed without getting up, and would let me hold her hand till I fell asleep. That was my bed from age four to six. I can still remember the old brown sticky mohair on that seat.
