were held Friday, April 8 for William Ronald Osborn at 2 p.m. at the
East Main Church of Christ in Holdenville. Larry Bailey and Kevin Wright
Ronald was born in rural Hughes County April 14, 1942 to Uyless and
Gladys (Pruitt) Osborn and died April 4, 2016 in Oklahoma City
surrounded by his family singing his favorite song, “I’ll Fly Away.”
He was raised in the Wetumka area and attended schools at Lone Oak,
Wetumka and Moss. He was a graduate of the Moss High School Class of
On Sept. 12, 1960, he went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone
Company and retired from there on Aug. 1, 1998.
Ronald and Phyllis Towery were married on Aug. 5, 1961 at the East Main
Church of Christ in Holdenville. To this union three children were born.
In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and traveling. He
and Phyllis have taken a lot of car trips over the years. In his later
years, Ronald enjoyed trips to McDonalds for coffee and visiting. No
matter what he did, family always came first. He loved his family deeply
and sincerely. He loved big family gatherings and big meals.
Ronald was a very talented and unique person. He possessed many
abilities, whether it be remodeling a house, overhauling a motor or
fixing a broken piece of furniture, he could always figure out a way to
make it work. He was a longtime member of the East Main Church of Christ
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; an infant son on July
19, 1964; his father on June 15, 1997; his daughter-in-law Robin on
March 20, 2009 and his sister, Sue Huff on June 7, 2012.
Survivors include his wife Phyllis of the home; his mother, Gladys
Osborn of Wetumka, OK; his son, Ronald Wayne and wife Melanie of Konawa,
OK; his daughter, Betty Ann Johnson and husband Steve of Seminole, OK;
grandchildren, John William and Michelle Osborn of Konawa, OK; Ronald
Lee and Valarie Osborn of Ada, OK; Amanda and Will Lampkin of Ada, OK;
Stephanie Johnson of Seminole, OK; Nick and Cassie Glenn of Shawnee, OK;
great grandchildren, Dakota, Elizabeth and Amber of Konawa, OK;
Lexie of Shawnee, OK and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, John Osborn, Ronnie Lee Osborn,
Will Lampkin and nephews, Steve Huff, Russell Huff and cousin, Randy
Interment will follow services at the Wetumka Cemetery under the
direction of Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home of Wetumka.
