Our Sincere Sympathy

Phyllis Jean (Shropshire) Milroy
January 31, 1945 - February 25, 2016

A Moss Graduate

Phyllis Jean Shropshire Milroy went to be with our Lord in Heaven as a peaceful night owl on February 25th 2016. She was born in Holdenville, OK January 31, 1945 to her adored parents Dorothy & Doyle Shropshire. Her husband Bruce Milroy, daughter Melody Inga Milroy, and sister Roberta Shropshire much look forward to seeing their peace & joy filled Phyllis soon. Phyllis is also loved & missed by her aunt Marveline & uncle Richard Hatcher, several cousins, Rick & Judy Milroy, and Roma Lee & Jim Branham. She completed college work at Oklahoma Baptist & Oklahoma State Universities and worked for many years in both legal and engineering fields before working alongside Bruce with wise advice & skill in bookkeeping at their hydroponic sprout business in Charlotte, NC. As a member of Calvary Church for over 35 years, Phyllis also found much sanctuary at Forest Hill Church.

Phyllis lived vivaciously through her cancer journey with her loving husband & daughter cheering her on daily while truly making the best of memories during this time. Phyllis much appreciated God's beautiful creation with special love of His farmland, and also enjoyed making friends in many places. She loved being a wife, mother, sister, and daughter where she deeply wanted to make their lives as best possible. Deep in her soul she would want to ask for forgiveness for her transgressions to her beloved friends & family where she may often have not been able to express. She found much joy in loving 'the least of these' and her family sees this as a fruit of her faith in the Lord where the 'joy of the Lord' was also her strength and salvation.

The family extends much gratitude to the many loving & talented, nurses, techs, transport & café teams on 4th & 5th floors at Presbyterian Matthews, the Novant Oncology team, Sardis Oaks team, and Dr. William Conner her loving, generous & gracious family physician. Her most exceptional yet humble oncologist, Dr. Alfred Newman, gave Phyllis & her family the most hope, love, and joy along her marathon race of lung cancer while knowing he knew the Lord was her Great Physician.

A celebration of Phyllis' earthly and eternal life will be held at Forest Hill Church, 7224 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC at 4pm followed by a joy reception of fellowship. The family would be honored by your presence at the service and/or the reception. Another celebration of her life was held on March 9 in the chapel on the grounds of the Holdenville Cemetery with burial following. Memorial tributes may be made to Haiti medical missions c/o to our trusted Dr. William Conner, 211 W. Matthews St, Matthews, NC 28105.
