Graveside services for Wilburton resident, Acie Leroy O’Kelley, 68,
are to be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Lamar Cemetery in
Hughes County under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of
Holdenville. Mr. O’Kelley passed away Monday, February 25, 2008 in
Wilburton.

Acie Leroy O’Kelley was born March 19, 1939 in Lamar, Oklahoma to
Acie Burl and Trentie (Collier) O’Kelley. He attended
Lamar and Moss Schools where he was an avid
ballplayer.
On November 17, 1962 Acie married Marcia Rose Thompson at Selfridge
Air Force Base in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. After 22 years of service, TSGT
Acie O’Kelley retired from the military and continued to work in
aircraft fuels at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas for
sixteen years. In 1994, the O’Kelley’s returned “home” to Oklahoma and
Acie began a career as a truck driver for Joe Brown Company and Triad
Transport.
He was an active member of the community serving as Chaplain of
American Legion Post #145, USWV Colony, Wilburton and was a member of
Southside Baptist Church. Acie continued to enjoy playing ball and spent
many hours following his coonhounds.
Acie leaves his wife, Marcia, of the home; sons: Acie, Jr. and
Marilyn O’Kelley of Denton, Texas; Thomas and Lisa O’Kelley of
Groesbeck, Texas; daughters: Karen Horton of Wichita Falls, Texas and
Carolyn “Ruth” O’Kelley of Wilburton, Oklahoma.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren,
one brother: Charles and Peggy O’Kelley of Holdenville, Oklahoma;
sisters-in-law: Nancy O’Kelley, Kathryn and Anthony Perrone;
brothers-in-law: Gordon Stanley and Lloyd Morrow and several nieces and
nephews.
Acie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Earnest O’Kelley;
sisters: Barbara Crelia, Lois Stanley and Kathleen Morrow. |
