Leroy McCoy

    Leroy Sam McCoy was born in Tulare, California, on May 5, 1944, to Samuel S. McCoy & Cliffie Opal (Wagoner) McCoy. He passed away in Holdenville, Oklahoma on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at the age of 68.

   He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Tommy McCoy; four brothers: Glen B. McCoy, who was killed in Korea, Gerald McCoy, Leonard McCoy, and Dee McCoy; two sisters, Thelma Muzzilla, and infant Juanita McCoy.

   Leroy was brought up in Lamar and attended Moss School, where he graduated high school. He worked for many years on the pipeline, and as a sales representative for Muirs Meat Company out of Wewoka. He lived in Wewoka for six years, then moved to Holdenville in the 1990s. He had been disabled since the late 1980s. He enjoyed fishing occasionally, and loved gardening and yard work. One of his favorite things was grilling outdoors.

   Leroy is survived by seven children: Bobby Dale Hamilton of Holdenville, Sherry Gail Hamilton of Seminole, Billy Gene McCoy of Arlington, Texas, Bobby John McCoy of San Antonio, Texas, Michael McCoy of Wewoka, Jessica McCoy of Tulsa, and Jackie McCoy of Tulsa.
 
   Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers: Frank McCoy of Calvin, Eldon McCoy of Holdenville, and Pete McCoy of Doney, Texas; two sisters, Christine McCoy of Holdenville and Imogene Cantrell of Filmore, California; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

 Funeral services were Friday, September 14, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at Gleaners Pentecostal Holiness Church in Wewoka, and Leroy was laid to rest in the Lamar Cemetery.
