Leonard Ray Taylor

Leonard Ray Taylor, 78, of Stigler, passed away on Thursday May 27, 2010 at his home. Leonard was born on May 13, 1932 in Oden, Arkansas to Rufus Dale and Daisy Mae (Leonard) Taylor.

He attended school at Lone Oak, McCalls Chapel, and Allen. He graduated from high school at Moss High School. He married Monte Rhea Morrow on November 16, 1952 in Visalia, California. He was drafted in July of 1953 in Visalia, California. He was awarded the Marksman medal. He was discharged in 1955 in Ford Ord, California.

He served on the Board of Director's Stewardship Services and the Masters College in Los Angeles for over 43 years. He also served as Trustee and as a Sunday School Teacher and youth sponsor for 18 years for Faith Baptist Church in Strathmore, California. Leonard was a member of the Oak Ridge Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Monte, of the home; three brothers: R.C. Taylor and wife Mary Lou, of Lubbock, TX; Bill Taylor and wife Kay, of Tulsa, OK; and Ferrell Taylor, of Sacramento, CA.

He is preceded in death by his parents: R.D. and Daisy Taylor; and one brother: Gerald Taylor.

Funeral services were held Tuesday June 1, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Reverend John Basden officiating. Pallbearers were Eric Morrow, Brent Taylor, David Taylor, Gene Shed, Michael Nalley, and Larry Shed. Honorary Pallbearers were Cliff Emerson, Travis Morrow, Monty Shed, Warren New, Roque Nalley, Dean Choate, Garland Shed, Doyle Hardwick, Dennis Brooks, Jim Brooks, and Carlton Mhoon.

Burial was held at 1:30 p.m. at the Holdenville Cemetery in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
