Joseph Len Keathley, the son of
Luster L. and Stella Mae Liles Keathley, was born February 12, 1929,
about four miles south of Lamar, Oklahoma. He passed away in Moore,
Oklahoma, January 3, 2011.
He lived with his parents and siblings for 10 years in
the Lamar area and attended Lamar School. In 1939, he moved with his
parents to Dustin, Oklahoma, and completed twelfth grade at Dustin High
School in 1947. He served in the Korean Conflict in the Army for three
years and married Nita Banta Lester, a widow with four young children.
He worked for the rest of his career as a drywall installer. He was
predeceased by his wife, Nita Keathley.
He is survived by six sons: Dennis Lester and wife
Connie, Gary Lester and wife Claudia, Jerry Lester and wife Nancy, David
Keathley and wife Sally, James Keathley and wife Wendy, Joe Keathley and
wife Leanna; two daughters: Donna Ervin and husband Eric and Sonia
Gressett and husband Greg; three brothers: Alvin Keathley and wife
Julia, James Keathley and wife Charlie Belle, and Phillip and wife
Florence; two sisters: Marguerite Willoughby and husband Kenneth and
Melba Hawkins and husband Marvil; 21 grandchildren, 21
great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 4
brothers and 1 sister. Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. January 6,
2011, at New Life Baptist Church, Newalla, Oklahoma, with interment at
Lamar Cemetery.
