Jewel Cleo Turner of Lamar, Oklahoma
went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 1, 2006, at the age of 86.
She was born in Lamar, OK on September 21, 1919 to John Henry and Laura
"Conley" Anglin and attended school in the Lamar Schools.
She was married to Dee Samuel Turner on June 1, 1938 in Lamar,
Oklahoma and they made their home there all their lives. They
owned and operated a grocery store for many years and she also helped in
the Post Office for many years and later became Postmaster. In
2003, she moved to Moore, Oklahoma and stayed for a time because of
health. She moved to Broken Arrow in January of 2006
She had been a member of the Lamar Pentecostal Holiness Church for
many years. She enjoyed quilting and raising flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dee Samuel Turner, on
April 27, 1987.
She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Hays and her husband,
Mike of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Rosa Lee Cherry and her husband
Randall, of Kansas City, Missouri; one son, Darrell Turner and his wife,
Ann of Collierville, TN; one sister, Lois McDaniel of Holdenville,
Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 PM Tuesday, April 4th. at Lamar
Pentecostal Holiness Church in Lamar, Oklahoma with Reverend Larry
Chesser officiating. Pall bearers were Jeff Cherry, Randy Barnett,
Michael Hays, Dustin Turner, Pat Conard, Bill Anglin, and Harold Anglin.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Luna, Royce Pearson, Jackie McCoy, and
Internment was in Lamar Cemetery under the direction of
Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville, Oklahoma
