Jerry Gentry, 68, of
Panola, OK died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, in Tulsa, OK.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Park Road
Church of Christ in Wilburton, OK with Minister Frank Wilson
officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of
Jones-Harkins Funeral Home of Wilburton, OK. Interment followed
at Memorial Garden Cemetery, Wilburton, OK.
Born May 19, 1935, in Holdenville, OK, to Benton
and Ada Gentry, he was a long time resident of the
Wilburton/Panola area where he owned and operated the NAPA Auto
Parts Store before his retirement in 1998. He married Jane
McDonald on Sept. 3, 1956, in Wetumka, OK. He was a member of
the Church of Christ, a past member of the Wilburton Lions Club,
Wilburton Round-Up Club, Wilburton Motorcycle Club,
Kiamichi Country Tourist Association and participated with the
Belle Star Reinactors. He was an animal enthusiast and enjoyed
time with the Coffee Shop Gang.
Survivors include his wife, Jane, of the home; two
daughters, Brenda and Dr. Mark Ferrell, of McAlester, OK; Diana
and George Slyman, of Bellingham, Wash.; five grandchildren,
Matthew and Katelyn Ferrell, Laura, Lance and Eric Slyman; one
brother, Tommy Gentry, of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister, Mary
White, of Bethany, OK and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters,
Aria, Katrina and Audrey, and a brother, Berry.
Pallbearers were: Arnold Shores, Junior Wilson, Johnny
Roberts, Tony Randall. George Slyman, Mark Ferrell, Bill Christain, Dean
McDonald and Dewayne McDonald.
