Funeral services for J. R. Shockley
were held February
2, 2004 at Hudson-Phillips Chapel with Rev. Joe Bruner officiating. He
was born January 11, 1947 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Raymond Shockley and
Loveta Hickman Shockley and died January 31, 2004 at his home in
Holdenville, Oklahoma.
J. R. was reared in the rural Moss and Horntown area
and attended Moss schools. After graduation in 1965, he attended Okmulgee
Tech for 3 years, graduating in 1968 as a diesel mechanic. He then went on
to work for a pipeline company in North Carolina, S & S Materials for 10
years and Glenberry Manufacturing and was self-employed at the time of his
death.
He enjoyed spending time with his family. J. R. was preceded
in death by his father and is survived by his mother, Loveta Shockley; two
sisters, Betty Hutchins and husband, Leroy, of Calvin, Oklahoma and Linda
Thronebury and husband, James, of Commerce, Oklahoma; two nephews, Jarod
Thronebury and Cade Thronebury, both of Commerce, Oklahoma; and one niece,
Lesleigh Potter of Denver, Colorado.
Internment was at Holdenville Cemetery under the
direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville, Oklahoma.
