Edwin Moss
September 5, 1943 - June 20, 2015
1961 Moss Alumni

Edwin Ray Moss passed away in Holdenville, Oklahoma on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at the age of 71.

Edwin was born on September 5, 1943, to Lloyd and Willene Moss. He was raised in Holdenville, Oklahoma, and graduated from Moss High School in 1961. After high school, he attended Oklahoma State Tech Okmulgee and earned a degree in Auto Mechanics in 1963.

Edwin married Wilene Payne on March 3, 1961. Together they had three sons, Steve, Kelly, and Kevin. On May 5, 1990, he married Juanita Martinez and they had one daughter, Madeleine Moss. Edwin and Juanita just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Edwin loved his kids more than anything, and took a lot of pride in them.

Working with tractors was his trade, but working with his Suffolk Draft Horses was his passion. He was a member of the American Suffolk Draft Horse Association and of the Oklahoma Draft Horse and Mule Association. He used his team of horses to work his land. He also took them to many field days, parades, and pulled the U.S. Marshall Posse wagon for several years at many events across the state. If you couldn’t find Edwin at home, you could surely find him at Wakely’s or Napa catching up with friends. He loved to call his friends out of the blue and tell them the latest jokes.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd & Willene Moss, and his sister, Lloyd Dean Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita Moss, of the home; his daughter, Madeleine Moss, of the home; his three sons: Steve Moss of Arapaho, Oklahoma, Kelly Moss of Holdenville, and Kevin Moss of Scipio, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Sarah Schwartz and Hailey Moss; four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved horse, "Ted", and his dogs, "Sis" and "Aggie".
