Clifford Powell
June 6, 1943 - October 3, 2013

    Cliff Powell of Oklahoma City, the youngest child of Jesse & Florence Powell, was born June 6th, 1943 in Holdenville. He passed away on Oct. 23rd due to complications arising during a difficult fight with cancer.

   He was raised on the family farm in Lamar and in addition to the agricultural work he did with his father as a student he was a heavily involved in the FFA program at Moss High School. After graduating from there in 1962 he married and began raising a family, working at a number of different places including Seminole Steam Laundry & Cleaners and Townley's Milk before beginning a career as a truck driver during which he was employed by Cato Oil, T. G. & Y., Environmental Transportation Services, Jack's Service Co., and Penske. He retired but idleness did not suit him so he found employment as a transporter for Hertz.

   Cliff was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sisters Jessie Lovett, Iris Hayes and Janice Porter and brother Jim Powell. He is survived by Tonya, his wife of 27 years of the home, sons Greg of Oklahoma City, Travis and wife Cindy of Oklahoma City, Chris and wife Amy of Bethany, daughters Carol Fitton and husband Lloyd of Crowley, TX, Cheryl Smith and husband Brett of Harrah, 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Sonya Jackson and husband Lloyd of Oklahoma City, and sister Molinda Cox of Midwest City.

   He was an ardent Sooner fan, staunchly conservative in his political views, and attended Wilmont Place Baptist Church. Services were at Vondel Smith South Colonial Chapel on S. Western in Oklahoma City at 2:00 PM on Monday, Oct. 28th with interment at Garden Grove Cemetery northeast of Shawnee to follow. While it is merciful that his suffering is ended he is deeply mourned and will be greatly missed.  (Amen)
